![]() ![]() I am fuzzy on exactly what "consciousness" actually is, in a scientific sense. It may be qualitatively different for a machine/robot/computer to be "conscious" but that does not mean you shouldn't care because it's not electro-chemical. At that level, it is complicated but not special in the "spiritual" sense. ![]() Incidentally, you can reduce what is "human" or "consciousness" to electro-chemical interactions in the human brain. The importance of that seems like an illusion to me.) (I am also not sure if it matters if the object is real/conscious, really. ![]() But what you experience as empathy is the closest thing to "real" you can get. Whether the object of your empathy is real/conscious or not may be impossible to know with any certainty. That's "real" to you and within your ability to know. I think the more important thing is the empathy you feel. :) My apologies in advance if any of this sounds dumb. This is getting philosophical and I am not very well read on "philosophy of mind"/consciousness stuff so you're making me go a bit out of my depth here. ![]()
